March 8th is National Proofreading Day. Yes, the dreaded proofreading. That last thing authors and editors have to do after living with a book for months. Frankly, everyone is pretty well tire of looking at the text by that time, but that final round of proofreading is crucial for catching as many niggling oopses as humanly possible. For that final proofread, authors and editors, who no longer have the needed fresh eyes, have come up with different ways to freshen up the text to make it feel like they're looking at it with fresh eyes.
