Catherine Underhill Fitzpatrick grew up in a large St. Louis family. After graduating from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, she went on to feature writing positions at daily newspapers in Hannibal, St. Louis, and Milwaukee.
On Sept. 11, 2001, Catherine was in Manhattan to cover New York Fashion Week for Wisconsin’s largest newspaper. At first word of the terrorist attacks, she rushed to Ground Zero and filed award-winning eyewitness reports. Her notebooks and other mementos from her harrowing experiences that week have been accessioned into the State Historical Society of Missouri archives. Catherine’s articles, stories, and essays have appeared in newspapers, literary reviews, magazines, and anthologies. She is the author of three published books prior to Recorder of Deeds. A seasoned public speaker, Catherine has given author talks and lectures across the Midwest and Southeast. She has been a featured speaker at two USA Today Storytellers Project programs. She is an award-winning member of the Florida Writers Association and a published member and featured speaker of the Chicago Writers Association. Catherine and her husband, Dennis, live in Denver, Colorado. They have two daughters. |
